Library Media Center Mission Statement
The Mission of the Kennedy Elementary School library media center is to develop effective users of ideas and information, to develop reading and information literacy skills, and to encourage a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The Library Media Center is essential to the education of our students. Our vision is to:
Policies and Procedures
Circulation: Students in second - fifth grades may check out two books per visit. Library materials may be borrowed for a two week period. If you need more time, bring your book by the media center and Mrs. Hall will renew it for another two weeks. Overdue books must be returned in order to check out new books. Kindergarten and first grades may check out one book per visit.
Personal Devices: Through our district BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) initiative third - fifth grades are allowed to have your personal devices at school. However, you will rarely, if ever, need them during your time in the media center. Please make sure they are turned off and in your pocket. Also, don't forget your devices are your responsibility, so please don't leave them in the media center!

- implement an instructional program emphasizing information literacy and technology skills that are integrated into the content curriculum
- promote reading and the appreciation of literature as lifelong habits
- provide a hub of learning for staff and students in developing skills in understanding, using, and producing media in various formats
- create a diverse collection of information resources (print, non-print, and electronic) that support the curriculum as well as student, teacher and parent interests
- provide a welcoming atmosphere that is conducive to learning and accessible to all users
- organize materials and resources for effective use
